From Gurgaon to Goregaon

It feels like it was just last night that I went to bed at 2 AM and woke up at 3 AM, filled with excitement for Mumbai. We were all ready by 3:30 AM and set off on June 14 2024 We set off by road, planning to spend the night in Ahmedabad, though I was completely against it. In the morning, my father took the wheel since he’s an early riser, and he drove extremely fast on the highway, surpassing my mother's highest speed of 181 km/h by hitting 184 km/h. I couldn’t stop smiling, eager to reach Mumbai. We stopped at a temple in Bijolia, which I didn’t like much, and after 12 hours, we arrived in Ahmedabad. Exhausted, we drank some terrible tea, watched TV, and I went to bed around 9 PM.

The next morning, we left at 6 AM, still tired and needing proper rest. Along the terrible route, animals were relaxing in the middle of the road, slowing us down. After 10 long hours, we finally reached Goregaon from Gurugram. I quickly headed to Jalada, my previous society, and caught up with a friend at McDonald's, where we played badminton. Then, I went to the greatest society in the world, Lodha Park, and had a sleepover with Adwiz, one of my best friends. We planned to sleep at 1:30 AM but stayed up until 5 AM watching Harry Potter movies, planning to finish the franchise during this trip. For some reason, I woke up at 7 AM and Adwiz at 8 AM, which turned out well as we had two hours to enjoy talking and simply having a good time.

After leaving Adwiz’s house, I went to Shiva bua’s place, where I enjoyed one of my favorite cuisines, South Indian. Later, my family and I went to my mama’s house, which I hadn’t planned but ended up enjoying. There, I played video games and sports with my cousin Nishchay. Deshna, another cousin, joined us for a game of Sequence, where I kept blocking people without benefiting myself. The game ended early as Nishchay bhaiya had to leave, so no one won.

At night, my parents went to watch Inside Out 2 with Ankit chachu, while my brother and I invited one of Nishchay bhaiya’s friends to play an invented version of dodgeball in the room until 4 AM. The next morning, the three of us played badminton and table tennis; I got smoked in badminton but excelled in table tennis. We packed our suitcases, planning to leave, but I convinced my parents to let me stay a bit longer.

The next few days, I stayed up until 2 AM watching the Euros and played video games like DLS, Brawl Stars, and Stumble Guys. I had a blast in Nerul because of the welcoming and loving atmosphere.

Afterward, I went to Worli, where Minti didi lives, which is close to Lodha Park. After breakfast, I went to Adwiz’s house since he was available. We played Brawl Stars for about an hour, went swimming, and then watched Harry Potter. In the evening, I played football with my friends until my father canceled my sleepover plans as we had to go to Siddharth uncle’s house. Despite my initial disappointment, I had a great time there playing 3 pati with real poker chips he had ordered immediately after our arrival, which shows how much he cares. It was exciting but not as fun as winning real money.

The next day was perhaps the most astonishing of the trip. We visited the coastal road, which was disappointing, but then went to Shishir uncle’s place. He was one of the cleverest, funniest, and coolest people I’ve met, teaching me how to solve a Rubik's cube. I also wanted to learn to play the guitar and whistle from him. I had a phenomenal time at his place. We had to go back to Siddharth uncle’s home, where we played 3 pati again and enjoyed ourselves.

The rest of the days, I stayed at St. Regis with Papa, but I went to Lodha every evening to play football. On the first evening, I left at 5 PM, played football in the rain, and met several friends. I spent a lot of time with Viraj, who was good at football and fun to hang out with. A few days later, I fractured my hand at Lodha while trying to save a penalty. Despite the pain, I continued playing for two more days, knowing it might be my last time in Lodha.

A few days later, we went to Shiva bua’s place as my brother had to go to Singapore for an NUS program. We met him before he left. A few hours after he departed, I visited the doctor and found out I had a broken bone, which devastated me. That night, we went to Jaya auntie’s house, had a heavy dinner but amazing falafel and sliders followed by pani puri. She gave me a t-shirt which fit perfectly, and then we returned to Shiva bua’s house, where we slept right after Shiva bua gave me Cheetos knowing how much I love them.

I had a fabulous time in Mumbai, proving once and for all that Mumbai is better than Delhi, even if Delhi is the capital city of India and cleaner. It feels like it was just last night that I went to bed at 2 AM and woke up at 3 AM, filled with excitement for Mumbai.
